The Paris Summer Games!

The 2024 Summer of sport is not over yet! The focus has moved from Germany and now resides in France where we have the pleasure of watching countries all over the globe showcase their passion, dedication and athletic skill from the 26th July to 11th August.

Having previously hosted the Games in 1900 and 1924, Paris has become the second city ever to host three times (after London, which hosted the 1908, 1948 and 2012 Games).

A total of 329 events will take place in total across 32 different sports and, for the first time ever, we will see breakdancing as an Olympic discipline. This year’s games will be no small affair, expected to cost round €9 billion, you won’t want to miss out on all that this sporting-spectacle has to offer!

Following the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the event aims to reduced cardon emissions by 50% in comparison to London 2012 and Rio 2016 – something that strongly aligns to our mission here at Kindred. To do this, they are using venues that already exist, or temporary ones, and use 100% local energy sources connected to the grid. They are also attempting to reduce the impact of transport by promoting cycling with bicycle parking and keeping events within a 10km radius and finding sustainable food sources with a reduction in single use plastics.

There is lots going on across all of our brands and markets, so no matter where you’re from or who you’re routing to win, you can get involved!
